Please reach us at mhoyne@kalispelldirectcare.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Kalispell Direct Care offers a variety of medical services, including adult primary care (Internal Medicine) like preventive care, diagnostic testing, and treatment for acute and chronic illnesses;
also Obesity Medicine - treatment options like nutrition, activity, medications, sleep considerations, pre- and post-bariatric surgery care, and weight-related issues (diabetes, fatty liver, PCOS, etc). Check out the more detailed page on this "Services."
Direct care is a medical model that allows patients to purchase a membership that allows them access to medical services - in this case, adult primary care (internal medicine) and also obesity medicine. It is an agreement you make directly with your doctor that doesn't use insurance claims (and who wants their input in your care anyway?) The patient pays a monthly fee to the medical office and then can access care as needed, without an additional fee at the time of service.
The goal of our care is adequate time spent between patient and doctor - generally 30-60 minute visits. We DON'T want it to be like a cattleyard, where patients are rushed through and can't even talk about the concerns they are having! We are also not keen on stacks of paperwork at each visit.
We value quality medical care with and good access to one's doctor.
Please email Dr. Hoyne at mhoyne@kalispelldirectcare.com.
Kalispell Direct Care does not accept insurance - this is what makes it Direct Care. Instead, patients pay a low monthly fee and there is no additional fee for visits/phone calls/texting with your doc, steroid injections, EKG etc in the clinic. No copays, no hidden fees. Just direct care.
Yes! You will be able to call, text, and email your doc - in addition to the more usual ways of interacting with your doc like in-person visits and telemedicine (video) visits.
Your doc can easily order your lab tests, imaging, or a referral. If you have insurance, it covers that per your plan details. (The lab / imaging / specialist coverage will happen as usual.)
Absolutely.
Absolutely. I'm happy work with your primary care provider (and any other providers involved in your care.)
Absolutely.
Dr. Hoyne is a double-board certified Physician, trained in Obesity Medicine and Internal Medicine. Many people who claim expertise don't actually have expertise or much training in this field.
I did my undergraduate degree at Stanford University, medical school at the University of Arizona, Residency at Banner Good Samaritan/VA Medical Center in Phoenix, and did my Obesity Medicine training via Columbia University and Harvard University.
No, you can cancel at any time. Many folks continue with me because of my expertise and empathy etc, but it's not mandatory. We are not keen on people joining and canceling then joining then canceling... we'd need to talk if that was the case, and there may be a fee.
Yes, I prescribe lots of medicines -for obesity and overweight. To name a few: Semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy,) Terzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound,) Phentermine, Topiramate, Bupropion, Naltrexone, Orlistat...
and of course non-obesity medicines like thyroid pills, blood pressure pills, vitamin D, oral and IV iron, and so forth.
Yes, I recommend that we all have health insurance, but it is not mandatory to see me (since you pay me directly / a monthly fee). A relatively young and healthy person could likely do well with 'catastrophic' type health care coverage, and a person with more birthday candles and medical issues will likely want broader coverage.
[Of note, a membership with Kalispell Direct Care is not insurance.]
